Cosy Finland has a wide range of hosts looking forward to visitors. Most of the hosts live in cities and offer home visits in urban surroundings.

From our carefully selected host net we choose a suitable host for you. The host net includes households of different types: singles and couples with or without children ready to enjoy with you in different concepts.

All hosts are interested in cross-cultural experiences and speak at least one foreign language. Most of them speak English but also French, German, Italian, Spanish and Swedish speaking hosts are available.

The hosts are specialists in telling you about the Finnish lifestyle. They may also have special interests and hobbies and therefore are eager to discuss certain topics. Should you have any special interests, please specify in order to match you with the most suitable host.

Our host net consists of 77 hosts. Most of them live in Helsinki metropolitan area but there are some hosts in Hämeenlinna, Iisalmi, Jyväskylä, Järvenpää, Kemi, Kerava, Loviisa, Mikkeli, Nummela, Tervakoski, Tampere, Turku, Lohja, Vihti, Vaasa. The host net is growing all the time so please ask other destinations.

00320 Helsinki (Haaga): Young couple living in a flat about 8 kilometers from city center. Both working in health branch. Hobbies: karaoke, music. Besides working they are interested in cross-cultural things, travelling and meeting people. For time being she is studying to become a sign language interpreter. His future plans are to study law in university.

02780 Espoo (Kauklahti): Middle-aged lady living in Espoo, Kauklahti, an interesting suburb that was a Housing Fair Area in year 2006. She is interested in art and architecture. She likes to bake. She has a nice black cat called Eppu. Her home is easy to reach by train, about 25 minutes ride from Helsinki Railway station. If you like she will meet you at the Kauklahti station. You can also take a bus 165 from Kamppi/Helsinki bus station, it has a nice route.

04420 Järvenpää (Kyrölä): Middle-aged couple living in one-family-house, about 30 minutes by train from Helsinki. Järvenpää’s cultural attractions such as Jean Sibelius’s Ainola nearby. Specialty smoked salmon in their garden cottage. Sauna is also possible. Occupations in building branch and Assistant in IT-branch. Hobbies and interests: gardening, travelling and people in other countries and cultures.

00640 Helsinki (Oulunkylä): Retired couple. We love hiking and wildlife; having retired we walked the Camino de Santiago, a 800km pilgrimage from the Pyrenees in France to Santiago de Compostela near the Atlantic in northern Spain. Sauna and ice-hole swimming enthusiasts in winter, would you like to try? We live in Helsinki, Oulunkylä, 9 minutes from downtown by commuter train. If you like, we can meet you at your hotel. We can heat the sauna for you. In Hämeenlinna (100 km north of Helsinki) summer house + sauna with private beach, boats available. Homestay for 1-3 persons in both of them. Wir sprechen auch Deutsch. Vi pratar svenska. Hablamos español. Parliamo un poco d’italiano. On parle un peu de français.

00330 Helsinki (Munkkiniemi): Retired couple of 68 and 70 years. She served as a secretary (associate in Laws) at the Office of the Chancellor of Justice. He was a District Prosecutor. They live full life in their 5th floor flat not too far from the Centre. She loves to make clothes by sewing machine, decorating the rooms and recycling. Half of the decoration at their home has come by recycling centers. She also takes lessons in mandolin playing and has lively conversations with her charming lady friend of 85 years. He likes reading. Mostly the topic has something to do with Finnish wars. They also go to pool playing together every now and then. They have a small sauna in their bathroom. No pets.

Interested in travelling, singing and playing piano (together-singing if wanted), handigrafts and Finnish design. In the family belongs two basenji dogs, barkless ones. Dog-training and other dog-things are one part of interests.

Two places to invite guests to: a rather large house in Kerava, 30 kms north of Helsinki, reached easily by train or even bus. The other is a smaller flat located in Herttoniemi, some 10 minutes metro ride away from downtown Helsinki. Pets: occasionally a dog.Also extra program:

00170 Helsinki (Kruunuhaka): 50+ couple, living in Helsinki center, Kruununhaka, house in Vihti (50 minutes drive from Helsinki). In Vihti very good opportunities stay over nights as well (also small groups). Summertime nice garden, sauna, a small lake nearby. Wife loves cooking and baking, having a firm offering catering services. Hobbies are ice swimming, skiing, all kind of exercises. Husband is working in engineering office. His hobby is all kind of renovations.

00320 Helsinki (Etelä-Haaga): Single waitress living in a flat about eight kilometres from Helsinki city centre. Rhododendron Park nearby, if you like to visit it.

00530 Helsinki (Kallio): Middle-aged lady with a poodle dog living in Helsinki City. She likes outdoor life in countryside where she has a cottage. Hobbies: literature, theatre, music, art exhibitions, flea markets, cooking, swimming and cross-country skiing. Earlier she has travelled abroad a lot but nowadays the dog keeps her in Finland. Her specialty for you: Walking tour in the natural park of Nuuksio.

02230 Espoo (Nuottalahti): 15 km westward from Helsinki. Can pick you up from a hotel in Helsinki if desired. Non-smoking retired couple, IT-manager and civil servant who live in a semidetached house with garden, near the shore. Like culture, gardening and travelling. Sauna is also possible.

02200 Espoo (Suurpelto) Family life: 30+ couple with a baby born 2011 and two cats. Their special interests include cycling, yoga, rollerblading, karate, dancing, etc. They live one block away from the bus route (20 min) end stop to Helsinki downtown. Sauna in the apartment. Reading and listening to music are among the family hobbies, the husband's music preference is heavy metal.

07920 Loviisa: Young lady who lives in an idyllic small town called Loviisa, one hour by car east of Helsinki. She enjoys meeting new people, cooking, taking photographs and spending time outdoors. Her mother tongue is Finnish. She also speaks fluent English, Swedish and Italian and some German, French and Spanish.

12400 Tervakoski: Couple 50+ and a cat living in a small town 130 km from Helsinki. Their specialty is a home movie theatre. Iittala Glass Factory nearby. Besides dinners they offer also homestays for 1-3 persons.
