Hosts

We have a wide range of hosts looking forward to have visitors. Most of the hosts live in cities and offer a home visit in urban surroundings.
From our carefully selected host net we choose a suitable host for you.  The host net includes households of different types: singles and couples with or without children all around Finland ready to serve you in different concepts.
All hosts are interested in cross-cultural experiences and speak at least one foreign language. Most of them speak English but also French, German, Italian, Spanish and Swedish speaking hosts are available.  
The hosts are specialists in telling you about the Finnish lifestyle. They may also have special interests and hobbies and therefore are eager to discuss certain topics. Should you have any special interests, please specify in order to match you with the most suitable host.

Our host net consists of 61 hosts. Some host profiles:

 

A lady in her thirties living in 3-room flat in Turku center (2 hours by train from Helsinki), works as an IT specialist. Likes to cook and to get into interesting conversations with new people. Hobbies: travelling, winter swimming (ice-hole swimming), culture: opera, literature, art.

  

Middle aged couple: man is a graphic designer/entrepreneur, wife works in Zoo.
Two places to invite guests to: a rather large house in Kerava, 30 kms north of Helsinki, reached easily by train or even bus. The other is a smaller flat located in Herttoniemi, some 10 minutes metro ride away from downtown Helsinki.

Pets: a rabbit, (hermelin) and occasionally a dog.

Also extra program:

- cycling either in Helsinki or around Kerava (excellent infra), we have bikes for two

- swimming in a lake year around (yes, also in winter) + sauna (small extra cost)

- walking/hiking in a nature park (Viikki, Helsinki) or in a forest (Kerava/Sipoo/Tuusula)

- sauna in Kerava

- sport events watching, like basketball, football or ice hockey games, if available at the moment of the visit

- basketball playing Saturdays October-May 11 am

A retired couple living in a spacious, well decorated flat in Munkkiniemi, Helsinki. Occupations: Secretary (associate in laws) ja District Prosecutor.

 

A retired, well traveled couple living most of the year in a flat in Helsinki city centre. Winters in India.
 

Helsinki:
 A middle-aged female primary school teacher. Living at a two-family-house with a little garden. Interested in travelling, singing and playing piano (together-singing if wanted), handicrafts and Finnish design. In the family belongs two basenji dogs, barkless ones. Dog-training and other dog-things are one part of interests.
 

A middle-aged couple living in Järvenpää. Specialty smoked salmon in their garden cottage. Occupations in building branch and Assistant in IT-branch.

 

Family life: Young couple living in one-family-house in Itä-Pakila, Helsinki. Daughters born 2007 and 2009. A nice terrier-dog. Grill Party possible in summertime. Occupation in sales/marketing branch.

 

A middle-aged bilingual (Swe/Fin) couple living a in Tikkurila, Vantaa. English Teacher and Project Manager. Barbeque possibility in summertime. Pet: African pygmy hedgehog (non-allergenic).

 

A middle-aged lady in health care branch living in Helsinki city centre. Interested in traveling and culinary cooking.

 

 

A couple 50+ and a cat living in a small town 130 km from Helsinki. Can be reached by car or by public transport. Their speciality is a home movie theatre. Iittala Glass Factory nearby. Besides dinners they offer also homestay for 1-3 persons.

 
A retired couple (former policeman and parish employee) living in Muurame near Jyväskylä. Hobbies: boating, gardening and travelling.
